Merrimack, NH Home Inspections by a Local Inspector You Can Reach

Call (603) 554-7785

Merrimack borders Amherst, where Granite State Inspection Services is based, so it's one of the towns we serve most naturally. Whether you're buying a starter condo, a family colonial, or a ranch to downsize into, Mike Robicheau will inspect the home himself and walk you through what he finds. We're veteran-owned, and Mike is an InterNACHI member and a licensed New Hampshire home inspector (License #00790).

A Town of Neighborhoods

Merrimack sits along the Merrimack and Souhegan Rivers, and its housing is spread across many neighborhoods built over different decades. Wherever the home is in town, Mike's job is the same: give you a clear, honest picture of its condition before you commit to it. You'll find capes, ranches, split-levels, colonials, and a good number of condominium and townhouse communities. Each type, and each era of construction, comes with its own common issues. Here's where Mike tends to focus in Merrimack:

Split-levels and raised ranches: Mike pays attention to grading and drainage near lower-level living spaces, and to how well partly below-grade rooms are handling moisture.

Homes a few decades old: Many major components may be at or past their typical service life, including the roof, water heater, heating equipment, and windows. Mike will note the age and condition of what he sees, so you can plan and budget.

Condos and townhouses: We focus on the unit you'll own and its systems, and we note any visible conditions in shared areas that are worth asking the association about.

Water in Merrimack

Most of Merrimack is served by the Merrimack Village District, a public water system that draws from groundwater wells. Some properties have private wells. Find out early which one the home you're buying uses.

Merrimack is also where NH DES began its well-known investigation of PFAS around the Saint-Gobain facility, and parts of town fall within the area that's been studied. If you're buying a home with a private well, the NH DES PFAS Sampling Dashboard is a good free resource. Call us to talk through water testing options. See our services page for the add-ons we offer.

The Basics That Protect Your Investment

Some of the most important findings in any inspection are simple ones: water. Gutters that overflow, downspouts that drain right next to the foundation, and grading that slopes toward the house are common causes of wet basements in New Hampshire. Mike checks the outside of the house as carefully as the inside, then follows the evidence into the basement. Our blog post Rain, Rain, Go Away covers the subject in more depth.

He'll also check the electrical panel and visible wiring, the heating and cooling equipment, the plumbing, the attic and insulation, and the interior rooms, windows, doors, and built-in appliances.

Fast, Readable Reports

We write your report in AEYES and deliver it within 24 hours of the inspection, usually sooner, with an online view and a PDF. Findings are clearly organized, with photos and plain-English notes, so you can tell safety issues apart from everyday maintenance. Here's what to expect from your report.
